Expert Gas Line Repair and Replacement in Kansas City, MO

Gas line repair and replacement is one of the most safety-critical services a Kansas City homeowner can schedule. At Mac Wilson, LLC, we handle the full scope: locating leaks, repairing damaged sections, and replacing deteriorated lines from meter to appliance. Many Kansas City homes were built decades ago, and older steel piping in those properties has faced years of freeze-thaw cycles and clay-heavy soil movement that accelerates corrosion and joint failure. We start every job with a pressure test and visual inspection to confirm exactly where the problem is. From there, we repair isolated issues or replace the full run when corrosion or repeated failures make partial repair impractical. Every job follows Kansas City and Missouri code requirements, and our licensed plumbers pull the necessary documentation so you are not left exposed. If you smell rotten eggs, hear a hiss near a gas appliance, or notice a pilot that will not stay lit, call Mac Wilson, LLC before the problem gets worse.

Gas Line Repair and Replacement FAQ

Common questions about gas line repair and replacement in Kansas City, MO.

A repair works for a single isolated leak or a loose connection on an otherwise sound line. If your Kansas City home has older steel piping with widespread corrosion or a history of repeated leaks, a full replacement is the safer and more cost-effective path.

No, leave the home immediately and avoid using any electrical switches or open flames. Once you are outside, call your gas utility and then contact a licensed Kansas City plumber like Mac Wilson, LLC to inspect and repair the line.

No, gas line work in Kansas City must be performed by a licensed professional. Improper repairs can cause leaks, fire risk, or carbon monoxide exposure inside the home.

A rotten egg or sulfur smell, a hissing sound near a gas appliance, a pilot light that will not stay lit, or a gas bill that has risen without a change in usage are all signs to call a plumber. Dead or yellowing vegetation over an underground line in your Kansas City yard can also indicate a leak below grade.

Yes, we service gas lines running to furnaces, water heaters, stoves, ovens, dryers, and fireplaces throughout Kansas City. We inspect the full run from the meter to each appliance connection and address any section that fails pressure testing.

Many older Kansas City homes were built with steel gas piping that corrodes over time, especially when exposed to the area's clay-heavy soils and repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Decades of ground movement and pipe age combine to weaken joints and fittings, making leaks more likely.

We interviewed approximately 10 contractors to move and add drains to our unfinished basement, prior to finding Mac Wilson. I found the admin team to be friendly with quick communication. We had the team in our home for 2 days. The on-site team was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a minor issue after day one and the entire team was quick to get the problem resolved, without any delays to the project. We would use them team again!

Zach and lane have gone the extra mile for us. When we’ve had issues they’ve taken the time to talk to us and make sure we’re happy. If you’re looking for a company you can trust I would highly recommend Mac Wilson. Update 4 Aug 2020: Zach and Lane came back out to install a single basin sink for us and did such a nice job that I felt I should show the work here. Ignore the old sealant (I asked them to leave it so I could do a little cleanup of our counters as a whole). Stunning install and took less than two hours.

I was super happy with the work completed by Chad and Carson. They showed up and when they said they would. The job took them less time than they anticipated and they were so nice and patient and great at explaining anything I asked about. I would recommend them for sure.
